This is my senior thesis piece. I made a story representing my four years at Ringling College of Art and Design.
'Ball Bounce' was the first animation class my professor taught. I believe that illustrating the progression of animation from poor to excellent quality and from simple to complex design—would effectively showcase the development of my career.
After Journey

Initially, I intended to create a version that displayed the progression of my improvements through various styles. My original plan was to showcase 15 different styles, but due to time constraints, I had to reduce this number to eight.
I looked up multiple references on Pinterest. Since my story focuses entirely on ball bounces, I skipped the storyboard part and jumped directly to the animatic.
Previs Plan

Based on that, I created the first version of my animatic. I used simple graphic shapes to illustrate all the animations.

I made some improvements on animation, and cut some parts off.
After a few weeks, I finished the design and basically all the animation. I add the voice-over and music at the background.

A simple sketch, a world of possibilities
At first, it was hard to get the ball rolling
Over and over
But I eventually found my stride
Design is tough, and was hard to found my place in it
But through good composure and composition, I learned my place
The further I got, the more complex the world become
Likewise, I began to see more dimensions to the world around me
Sometimes I trapped. There is so much to learn
So much variety in design
And variety of animation techniques
And multiple right answers!
It was a celebration of diversity in motion
But in this journey, not every leap was effortless
Running out of ideas, bad animation, poor designs…
Creative block. The black hole of creativity
but with the help of some great friends here at school, we overcame each challenge. Which in turn lead to even more discoveries!
The key is persistence. And listening to my mentors.
and now, here I am, at the cusp of this journey.
I wonder what is coming next?
